Make a southern stop at Covered Bridges of Rosedale

Rosedale — Covered Bridges of Rosedale, Rosedale Country Christmas, and the Rose of Shariní relief closet topped the agenda of the Rosedale Merchants Association meeting recently.

Covered Bridges of Rosedale is the south county event of the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival.

On the red bridge route, Florida Township Civic Center in downtown Rosedale will host the town’s activities with tour buses stopping there daily. Artists and crafters as well as antique dealers will be on-site both inside the entire Civic Center itself and in the center’s adjacent parking lot. Items offered include originally crafted jewelry, paintings, designed purses, floral arrangements, quilted items, clay art, crochet and knit items, woodcrafts, rustic and primitive creations, antiquities from beads to tools, and more.

Foods offered up to visitors will include full chicken noodle and Salisbury steak dinners, pumpkin and fruit desserts, a variety of baked goods and snack foods, and several freshly prepared sandwiches. RMA, who sponsors the June Strawberry Festival event, will be serving strawberry shortcakes, ice cream and beverages. In addition to the daily food offerings, Rosedale’s sorority will provide the Jonah Fish Fry on Friday. On Oct. 19, Rosedale Volunteer Fire Department will conduct its fundraising Fireman’s Breakfast.

Santa also will visit Rosedale, arriving at the Holiday Craft Fair in Rosedale Elementary School on Dec. 13. RMA will arrange Santa’s arrival and donate gift bags for the children.
