Food, drink and music abundant at 36th annual Oktoberfest

TERRE HAUTE — Food and drink and lively music for both listening and dancing will be featured during the weekend of the 36th Oktoberfest, Sept. 11 through Sept. 13.

Sponsored by the German Oberlandler Club, the festival will be staged at the Clabber Girl Festival Marketplace at Ninth and Cherry streets each day from 11 a.m. to midnight. Admission is free.

Linda Lee and the Golden-Aires from Frankenmuth, Mich., and Eddie Korosa Jr. and His Boys from Illinois will alternate on the stage to provide free live music from 4 p.m. until midnight.

This is Lee’s first performance at this Terre Haute festival, which has been staged each fall since 1973.

Special Oktoberfest noon events include the Fourth Red Hat Chicken Dance on Thursday; “Take Your Staff to Lunch” co-sponsored by the Conservatory of Music on Friday; and “Tell Me a Story” with Doug and Sally Weaterston for children and the young-at-heart on Saturday.

German and American foods are prepared and served by club members each day from 11 a.m. to midnight. Food take-outs are available. Guests must be age 21 or older to enter the beer garden.
