Casey Saddle Club sets 2008 show dates

CASEY, Ill. — The Casey Saddle Club conducted its annual meeting in March at the Casey Pizza Hut to set the show dates, work dates and revise the show schedule for the club.

The first show of the season is Saturday in the Casey Park. The remainder of the shows will be June 21, July 4, Aug. 9 and Sept. 13. All shows start at 3 p.m. The proceeds for the July 4 show will once again go to benefit the Clark County Shriners and their work for the Shriners Children Hospital. Last year, the Casey Saddle Club was able to donate more than $500 to the organization.

The club is again fortunate to have generous sponsors to support them. Steve Hamilton will once again donate a belt buckle so we can have a Youth High Points Award this year. Also, Bill and Judy Crouch are donating the ribbons that are handed out to all participants that place first through sixth.

The Casey Saddle Club has already had a couple of work days at the arena to make some much needed improvements. The biggest improvement that the club agreed to do this year was moving the announcers stand to the west end of the arena. Jim Bolin furnished use of the equipment and operator to make this happen.

On Sept. 8, the club staged a Fun Show in Fairview Park. Sixteen riders participated in the show. Because of inclement weather, some of the regular classes were deleted.

Spectator prizes were donated by the Casey Saddle Club, B& B Propane, Snedeker Insurance, J & K Mitchell, Markwell Funeral Home, Union Planters, Casey State Bank, Toledo State Bank, Edie Wittenmeyer (White Stallion,) John Deere and Casey Farm Pride. Spectator winners were Kyle McKinney, Ed McKinney, Michelle Blakeman, Jerry Zellers, Debbie Zellers, Lanie Twigg, Ashley Mitchell, Misty Murray, Macy Roe, Michelle Haley, Danny Haley and Amilynn Zellers.
