American Idol 5 finalist and country recording artist Bucky Covington will appear June 20 in Terre Haute, according to the entertainment Web site Pollstar.com.
The eighth-place finalist in the 2006 season of American Idol will appear in concert in the Indiana Theatre at 683 Ohio St., theater owner Roger Aleshire confirmed this afternoon, April 2.
“It’s in the works, yes,” Aleshire said, “Bucky is coming … but the rest of the show is still being finalized.” Other acts as well as ticket information should be available next week, he added.
Covington’s hit singles, “A Different World” and “It’s Good to Be Us,” from his self-titled freshman album also are featured music videos on Country Music Television and CMT.com.
In addition, Covington has been nominated for the 2008 CMT Music Award for USA Weekend breakthrough video of the year for “A Different World.”
Covington and his twin brother, Rocky, from Rockingham, N.C., auditioned for Idol 5 and only Bucky was selected for the hit talent-search show. According to CMT.com, after elimination Bucky connected with Sawyer Brown’s management company and Sawyer Brown’s lead singer, Mark Miller, produced Covington’s studio sessions. Lyric Street Records then released his debut album in 2007.
The 2008 CMT Music Awards, hosted by Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus, will air live from Nashville, Tenn., at 8 p.m. April 14. Until then, watch Bucky Covington in a filmed segment on American Idol tonight, April 2, on television station WFXW-Channel 38.
