Morrison leads in 42nd District GOP race

TERRE HAUTE — In a race among three Republicans vying for their party’s nomination in Indiana state Representative District 42, Alan Morrison of Seelyville was leading by 9 percentage points with two-thirds of the votes counted tonight.

Morrison had 1,636 votes, to 1,280 for Bill Webster of Rosedale and 884 for Jim Meece of Bloomingdale.

In Vigo County precincts, Morrison recorded 526 votes, to 278 for Webser and 197 for Meece.

Democrat Mark C. Spelbring was unopposed for his party’s nomination. Spelbring and the Republican winner will face off in the fall election.

Incumbent Dale Grubb, a Democrat, did not seek re-election.

The 42nd District includes all or parts of Vigo, Clay, Vermillion, Parke, Fountain and Warren counties.
