Bird leads Democratic Vigo Council at large totals

Burger running second, Ping third, Bryan fourth

TERRE HAUTE — In Vigo County Council races for at large seats, with 75 of the county’s 87 precincts counted as of about 6:45 p.m., two of three Democratic incumbents were among the top three votegetters in their attempts for renomination.

Mark D. Bird led with 3,283 votes, and Ed Ping was third with 2,422.

Running a strong second among Democrats was challenger Rick Burger, who had 2,677 votes.

Incumbent William C. Bryan was running fourth among eight Democratic candidates, with 2,279 votes, as the distance between he and Ping seemed to be growing

Other Democratic vote totals were  Curtis A. DeBaun IV, 1,887;  Adam Azar, 1,865; Ann Marie O’Brien, 1,734; and SaRetta J. Brown, 927.

On the Republican side, Bill Treadway led three opponents with 3,669 votes. Craig A. Bales was second with 3,294,  Steve Ellis third with 2,334 and Lonnie Moody II was fourth with 2,251.

The top three votegetter in each party will run for election in the fall.
