TERRE HAUTE —
The Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra will perform its annual holiday concert in Indiana State University’s Tilson Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
By popular demand, the orchestra will again perform “Little Drummer Boy,” featuring drummer Nick Stevens. A Sandi Patti song, “The Star of Bethlehem,” was composed by guest artist, Rick Vale, who will sing his work with 8-year-old special guest, Megan Carpenter.
Other featured works include “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers,” “White Christmas,” “Festive Sounds of Hanukah,” and “Sleigh Ride.” There will also be an audience sing-along.
Carpenter also will perform “Jingle Bells” with the orchestra. Carpenter has been invited to sing for community functions in Indiana and Illinois and sings solos for her church and school programs. She is in third grade at Springville Elementary School, near Bedford.
Vale began his music career in the Pacific Northwest where he performed as principal actor with several companies, including The Seattle Opera Company. He has appeared throughout the Pacific Northwest, the Midwest and off-Broadway in New York. He also has performed vocal solos with symphony orchestras around the country.
As a composer, his works have been performed by recording artists, symphonic orchestras, choirs and opera/ballet companies throughout the United States and the world: from Carnegie Hall to Novosibirsk, Siberia. Vale makes his home in Anderson.
Single tickets for this concert begin $18 for adults and $4 for youth/students. All tickets are available at the Hulman Center ticket office or at 1-800-745-3000.
