Plenty of chances to meet and greet Colts this summer

By Tom James
Tribune-Star Correspondent

Indianapolis While the Indianapolis Colts’ 2008 “Make It Personal Tour” isn’t scheduled to make a stop in either Terre Haute or Brazil before the start of training camp at Rose-Hulman, there will be at least three opportunities for Wabash Valley fans to meet and greet some of the team’s cheerleaders and players.

The tour is slated to make stops from 4 to 6 p.m. at Humphrey’s Park (Highway 54 and Park Road) in Linton on June 24; at the Town Square in Rockville (4 to 6 p.m.) on June 30; and at Owen Valley High School in Spencer (4 to 6 p.m.) on July 2.

The “Make it Personal Tour” will honor the 25th year of Indianapolis Colts football this summer with visits to 16 Indiana cities. The tour will include visits with Colts’ players and cheerleaders, an opportunity to register for tickets to a preseason game at Lucas Oil Stadium, a chance to register youngsters for the Colts’ Kid Club and a tour of the redesigned Colts in Motion traveling museum. Fans also will be urged to donate blood to help the team’s “Bleed Blue Blood Drive.”

“We provide hundreds of free events for our fans every year. The ‘Make It Personal Tour’ is our way of giving back to our fans and to thank them for their continued support. We want our fans all across the state to be able to touch the Colts franchise in their own backyards,” said Tom Zupancic, vice president of sales and marketing for the Colts.

Team marketing officials encourage all fans to arrive early for tour visits and to remember that lines for player and cheerleader autographs may be cut off at any time to ensure the tour remains on schedule; all “Make It Personal Tour” stops are rain or shine; and that team practice schedules and meeting times may cause for players to arrive late or depart early.

Also, players’ names will not be announced prior to their arrival to each city; fans will be allowed one autograph per person (however fans may get back in line for additional autographs); and all Colts “Make It Personal Tour” stop times are local.
