Colts’ 2008 schedule full of prime-time games

INDIANAPOLIS —
The Indianapolis Colts’ official 2008 schedule has been released, highlighted by nationally televised games with non-divisional rivals New England, Pittsburgh and San Diego along with AFC South foes Tennessee and Jacksonville.
The Colts will face the Bears, Jacksonville, Baltimore, New England, Houston, Cincinnati, Detroit and Tennessee at Lucas Oil Stadium. Indianapolis will go on the road to play Minnesota, Houston, Green Bay, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, San Diego, Cleveland and Jacksonville.
Both of Indianapolis’ games with the Jaguars will be televised nationally by CBS (Sept. 21) and NFL Network (Dec. 18).
Fox will carry the Colts’ game at Green Bay (Oct. 19). NBC will have Indianapolis’ games with Chicago, New England (Nov. 2), and San Diego (Nov. 23). CBS will also have the Colts’ trip to Heinz Field in Pittsburgh (Nov. 9).
“I guess it’s always exciting when you find out when you’re going to play,” Indianapolis coach Tony Dungy said Tuesday. “[The Colts are] looking forward, especially to the [season] opener and opening up the new [Lucas Oil] stadium against Chicago.”
• No official word on training camp — There has been no official word from either the Colts’ front office or from Rose-Hulman representatives, but it appears as if training camp will once again be returning to Terre Haute.
Indianapolis, as well as school officials, have remained tightlipped about the state of negotiations. But with time at a premium for getting the practice fields on the Rose-Hulman campus prepared and ready for camp, no news is probably good news at this point.
• Pre-draft news conference — Colts’ team president Bill Polian will meet with the media next on April 25 to preview the upcoming NFL Draft, which is scheduled for April 26-27.
Indianapolis does not have a first-round draft pick this year, having traded it to San Francisco during last year’s draft for the 49ers’ 2007 second-rounder.
