Rose-Hulman will host its second annual basketball “Non-Midnight Madness” event at 9 p.m. Sunday.
Midnight Madness will include free pizza, free T-shirts and more than $1,000 in cash prizes.
In addition, giveaways will be available from Rollie’s, the Rose-Hulman Bookstore, Bagnoche Sports, Chava’s and other outlets.
The pizza will be given to students and attendees when the doors open at 8:45 p.m., with competition contests among fans to begin at 9 p.m. Fans must arrive prior to 10 p.m. to receive a ticket to compete for the grand prize at 10:30.
Rose’s basketball teams will take the floor at midnight, with fun and events to follow. The grand prize opportunity will be held at 10:30 and the competitor must be in attendance.
The men’s basketball team won the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament championships, finished 24-4 last season and reached the NCAA Division III tournament. The women’s squad returns four starters from a team that qualified for the HCAC tournament for the third consecutive year last winter.
Midnight Madness represents the first public event of the basketball season for the Engineers. The men’s home schedule begins Nov. 30, with the women’s home opener scheduled for Dec. 4.
• Oakland City 4, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods 1 — At Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Sarah Robinson knocked in a second-half goal — her first of the season — to provide the Pomeroys’ only score in a home loss Tuesday.
Liz DeMoss assisted on the goal. Woods goalkeeper Georgie Macy made seven saves.
Oakland City, which scored two goals in each half, improved its record to 8-4 with this victory.
The Woods (4-7-1) will visit Belleville, Ill., on Saturday..
