TERRE HAUTE — Indiana State coach Trent Miles said not to expect anything unexpected as the Sycamores have their first scrimmage of the preseason today. The scrimmage is scheduled to take place at 6:15 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. “The first scrimmage is always going to be about moving the ball, moving it in the red zone, short yardage situations. We want to work game situations and get them to understand the urgency of the game,” Miles said. The more formal Blue-White scrimmage will take place on Aug. 18 with the final scrimmage of the season scheduled for Aug. 25. The Sycamores begin the 2012 season at Indiana on Sept. 1. “We’re trying to get our first teamers to be the best we can. We’re trying to get our young guys to learn the system the best they can,” Miles said Thursday. “I’m not going to rely on a bunch of young guys [during the season], but I’m going to need them to be able to step up and help us.” ISU has a few injuries. Starting cornerback Calvin Burnett has missed a week of practice due to a strained LCL in his left knee. Miles said Burnett should be OK by next week and that he’s been sitting out for precautionary reasons. Defensive end Myles Walker has also missed practice with a right leg injury.
