Softball

n ISU falls — At Tulsa, Okla., 20th-ranked Tulsa used three home runs to defeat Indiana State by an 8-1 score Thursday.

The Sycamores led off the first and second innings with hits as junior Morgan Allee and freshman Abbie Malchow singled but neither was able to come around and score.

Tulsa got its offense going in the bottom of the second as they bat around and scored six runs off six hits to take a 6-0 lead over the Sycamores. They then added one more run in the bottom of the third off a solo homer to make it a 7-0 game.

Indiana State answered in the top of the fourth inning when Allee led off with a bunt single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Allee then moved to third on a fielders choice and Tulsa throwing error to cut the Golden Hurricane lead to 7-1.

The Sycamores could get no closer, however.

Allee finished 2 for 3 with a run scored for the Sycamores, while Megan Bunting and Paige Schreiner each went 1 for 2.

The Sycamores (9-13) will return to action Saturday when they open Missouri Valley Conference play at Wichita State with a doubleheader, beginning at 1 p.m.
