TERRE HAUTE —
The Indiana State women’s basketball team faces another tough non-conference test this weekend, beginning with a battle against an up-and-coming program in the Big Ten.
The Sycamores will play Northwestern in their first game of the Tulane/DoubleTree Classic today at 4 p.m. at New Orleans. Depending on the outcome, the Sycamores will play either host Tulane or Northeastern on Sunday.
Northwestern (9-2) is led by 6-foot-1 freshman Nia Coffey, who averages 16.2 points and 8.3 rebounds, as well as reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year Maggie Lyons, a 6-1 guard averaging 12.9 points.
The Sycamores will look to build on their best performance of the season, a 62-56 homecourt win against Butler.
Northwestern and ISU share a common opponent. The Wildcats are coming off a 72-61 victory over IUPUI, a squad the Sycamores lost to 68-64 in Hulman Center.
Anna Munn leads the Sycamores with an average of 15.3 points, leading the team in scoring in each of her past four games.
