UPDATE: FOX programming to be on digital Channel 10.2 in Terre Haute

TERRE HAUTE — FOX programming in the Terre Haute television market will be provided on digital channel 10.2, an official with LIN Media told the Tribune-Star today.

LIN Media, which owns WTHI-TV Channel 10, plans to officially announce later today that it will provide FOX programming in Terre Haute via channel 10.2, beginning Sept. 1. The channel will be known as MyFOX10.

The Fox Broadcasting Co. announced the agreement earlier today through a media release.

WTHI-TV Channel 10 will remain a CBS affiliate, said Courtney Guertin, corporate communications manager for LIN Media in Providence, R.I.

“We’re excited that our digital channel will feature FOX’s original line of programming,” Guertin said Thursday. “We’ll be able to offer both CBS and FOX to our viewers and advertisers on our channels.”

For the rest of this month and for the past 16 years, FOX programming in the Wabash Valley has been provided on Channel 38, which is currently known as WFXW. Beginning Sept. 1, that station will become WAWV-TV, an ABC affiliate. Terre Haute has not had an ABC television station since the mid-1990s, when it was offered on Channel 38, then known as WBAK-TV.

“LIN is one of FOX’s strongest affiliate groups and we are thrilled to expand our already successful partnership,” said Jon Hookstratten, executive vice president, network distribution for FOX. “In an ever-changing television marketplace, it’s key that FOX continues to grow our relationship with progressive media companies like LIN,” he said.

“We are pleased to offer FOX’s premium lineup of programs on our digital channel in Terre Haute,” commented Vincent Sadusky, president and CEO of LIN Media, who was quoted in the FOX news release.

It was not yet clear how cable and satellite viewers will receive FOX programs in the Terre Haute market. “That’s something that we’re working on,” Guertin said.
