Judge Michael Rader of the Vigo Superior Court Division V in Terre Haute completed Effective Practices in Managing Impaired Driving Cases: Model Curriculum for Judges, June 17-20 in Reno, Nev.
After this course, participants are able to recognize and apply evidence-based judicial practices in impaired driving cases; identify individual offender characteristics through screening and assessment to achieve positive outcomes and enhance public safety; target those offenders who are most appropriate for recidivism reduction strategies; recognize and ensure the use of evidence based treatment that addresses addiction and impaired driving; engage and collaborate with criminal justice agencies and stakeholders to adopt effective practices; identify and leverage community resources to adopt effective practices; and monitor court ordered conditions and apply graduated responses that are relevant, realistic and research based.
Rader oversees the Vigo County Drug Court Program and supervises the Vigo County Alcohol and Drug Program.
