As landowners and farmers struggle each year to find what is fair in land leases, many ask:
What is a fair rent?
Should we cash rent or rent on the shares?
Why did my neighbor get more than I did?
How does a flex lease work?
A Purdue Extension Service seminar, “The Ins & Outs of Farm Land Leases,” from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds in Terre Haute will help answer these questions. Attendees also will learn about the many aspects that landowners and tenants need to consider when leasing land.
The free seminar is open to both landowners and farmers. Attendees will hear from industry professionals and Purdue Extension Area V ANR educators on a variety of topics including: 2013 Purdue Land Value Survey, Lease Components & Types, What Makes a Farm Lease Work Well, Legal Issues, and Flex Leases.
The fairgrounds is at 3901 S. U.S. 41. For more information contact the nearest Purdue Extension office or Vigo County Extension educator Jim Luzar at 812-462-3371. Advance registration is not required.
