Duke Energy gives $10K to Wabash Valley Red Cross for Vigo flood relief

TERRE HAUTE — Duke Energy is giving $10,000 to the Wabash Valley Red Cross chapter for flood relief from this spring’s heavy rains.

“We know how devastating flooding can be for a community,” said Terre Haute district manager Rick Burger. “It happens with little warning, but can have long-term effects. Local Red Cross chapters such as Wabash Valley’s are on the frontlines of disaster relief, and we appreciate their leadership.”

The recent flooding was the most widespread and devastating since the record 2008 flood throughout the Wabash Valley. At least 100 Wabash Valley families affected by the April 2013 flooding have been helped by the Red Cross.

Duke Energy Indiana’s operations provide about 6,900 megawatts of owned electric capacity to about 790,000 customers, making it the state’s largest electric supplier. Headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., Duke Energy is a Fortune 250 company traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol DUK. More information about the company is available at www.duke-energy.com.
