Brittany Michaels has been appointed as the community connections coordinator for the Vigo County Public Library.
The announcement follows the retirement of Christine Schellenberg, who served as the community services coordinator for 25 years. Michaels has been with the library for 16 months. She previously managed the reference and special collections/archives departments.
She is a native of the Wabash Valley. She graduated from Indiana State University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in English. She received a Master of Library Science degree, with a specialization in rare books and manuscripts, from Indiana University, Bloomington in 2010. In 2012, she completed a master’s degree in English literature at ISU, where she worked as a teaching assistant.
Michaels is interested in innovative technology, local history, and rare books. In her new position, she will continue her work in special collections and archives, while expanding her focus to include maintaining and building connections within the Vigo County community.
