Thompson Thrift ranks 29th fastest-growing

Inc. magazine list includes country’s top 100 construction companies

TERRE HAUTE — Inc. magazine recently named Thompson Thrift Construction the 29th fastest-growing construction company in America.

That figure represents the company’s highest placement ever in these rankings.

The 2013 rankings included the country’s top 100 construction companies.

Last year Thompson Thrift was 76th.

Thompson Thrift Construction also was America’s 994th fastest-growing company, placing it in the top 20 percent of the Inc. 5000 fastest-growing companies. That figure represented a gain of 1,239 positions over last year when it was ranked 2,233rd.

This year’s listing was the company’s highest-ever Inc. 5000 ranking.

In addition, Thompson Thrift Construction was the 20th fastest-growing company in Indiana, according to the rankings.

“We are pleased and honored to be included among so many well-respected companies,” said John Thompson, president of Thompson Thrift Construction, in a news release.

“These impressive rankings represent the hard work and dedication of everyone associated with Thompson Thrift Construction,” Thompson said. “I consider myself fortunate to be able to work with colleagues such as these. They are deserving of all the recognition they receive.”

The ratings were part of the magazine’s annual listing of the Inc. 5000 fastest-growing companies in America. The rankings appeared in the magazine’s September 2013 issue.

The Inc. 5000 factors in three years of revenue growth from 2009 through 2012 and the number of jobs added at each firm in the last three years.

Thompson Thrift Construction’s rankings take on added significance because “the Inc. 5000 was harder to get into this year than ever in its history,” according to Eric Schurenberg, Inc. magazine editor-in-chief.

“The median company on this year’s Inc. 5000 list increased sales more than 140 percent since the start of 2010, while the average honoree grew a mind-boggling 486 percent,” Schurenberg added.

This was the 32nd year the Inc. 5000 ratings were released.

Earlier this year, Thompson Thrift Construction was included on two of MFE (Multifamily Executive) magazine’s annual Top 50 lists. The magazine placed Thompson Thrift 12th on its general contractor list. The company also was included on MFE’s top builders list in 33rd place.

In addition, the company was ranked 30th in Midwest Real Estate News’ listing of the Midwest’s 40 “Best Construction Companies.”

Thompson Thrift is a full-service real estate development and construction company with offices in Terre Haute, Indianapolis, Carmel and Houston. To learn more about Thompson Thrift, visit thompson
