DLC Media Inc. takes over radio station WAZI-FM

TERRE HAUTE — WAXI-FM in Rockville opened April 15 in conjunction with the Parke County Chamber of Commerce “After-Hours” event and the regular weekly meeting of the Rockville Rotary Club.

In July 2012, DLC Media Inc. president Dave Crooks announced his intention to purchase WAXI and return the station to Parke County. The station operated from a studio in Terre Haute for more than 12 years.

Crooks said. “I’m thrilled the station is attracting listeners from several counties. However, we are proud to be Parke and Vermillion counties’ local radio station.”

True Oldies 104.9 WAXI plays hits of the ’60s, ’70s and early ’80s. The station also broadcasts ABC News, local news briefs, sports and weather reports. WAXI also broadcasts Parke and Vermillion county high school sports and Indiana University sports.

New programming in 2013 include the Indianapolis 500, Brickyard 400 and Chicago Bears football. Veteran radio personality, Ron Mott, is the new host of a public affairs program, “Focus on the Community,” from 8 to 9 a.m. on Sundays. The show will focus on issues important to the community.

DLC Media Inc. is based in Washington, Ind. The company owns Memories 107.9 WAMW-FM and The General 95.9 & 1580 WAMW in Washington and operates Max 96.7 WFML-FM in Vincennes, on behalf of the Vincennes University Foundation. The company employs 18 people.

The WAXI facility is at 2865 S. 325 West in Rockville. The Rockville staff includes Renee Lyle, operations manager; Kandee Cook, local sales manager; Ashley Norman, advertising consultant; and Bill Cook, news and community events director.
