Long-range planning program set

TERRE HAUTE — Senior Education Ministries, Inc., is hosting “Last Will and Testimony,” a four-part program designed to provide resources so people can make informed choices regarding long-range planning and enhance their quality of life, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on April 30 at the main branch of the Vigo County Public Library.

The free class will cover four specific parts:

• Senior Law Instruction includes information about senior rights, Medicaid, Medicare and senior living arrangements.

n Asset Protection details health and life insurance, keys to successful investing, tax-efficient transfers of wealth without a revocable trust, how to title assets to accomplish your goals and living accommodation options and information regarding veteran’s benefits.

• Vital Documents provides instruction on wills and trusts, what they will and won’t do; power of attorney and what everyone needs to prepare for end of life. Participants will learn about living wills, funeral planning – specifically explaining the difference between pre-planning and pre-paying, benefits to pre-planning, the advantages of pre-paying and how to do both. Cremation and green burials will also be discussed.

• Eternal Living Accommodations provides information to ensure peace of mind and offer information to ensure “post” life assurance.

Classes will be taught by Brother Edgar Guy, chaplain of Senior Education Ministries; Rick Brewster, attorney, Frisse and Brewster Law Offices; Terry Daniels, Hoosier Heartland Financial Services; Toni Garzolini, State Farm Insurance; Becky Compton, Roselawn Funeral Home; Gary Greiner, Greiner Funeral Home; Brian Hewitt, Social Security Administration; Harriet Vaught, Family First Home Care; Lisa Bell, VistaCare Hospice; Angie Brewer, Crownpointe of Carmel; and Jan Hayes, Wabash Senior Activity Center.

A light lunch will be provided courtesy of American Senior Community, Springhill Village.

Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the classroom presentation.

Class will be offered quarterly again in July 2013.
