Students in Vincennes University’s Culinary Arts program gained hands-on, professional experience as they prepared and served desserts for a recipe contest sponsored by Clabber Girl Corp.
Recipes were submitted by employees of Dawn Food Products; the winning entry will be served at the DDA Annual Strategic Meeting this month.
Seventeen future chefs from the program, under the guidance of Mark Rice, senior national sales manager at Clabber Girl Corp., and chef Bill Stenger, an instructor in Vincennes University’s Culinary Arts program, prepared recipes from Island Mango Cheesecake to Mocha Temptation Flan.
Stenger’s students were challenged in working with recipes using products developed for Dawn Food Products.
Clabber Girl Corp. will make a contribution to the Vincennes University Culinary Arts program’s scholarship fund in recognition of the work completed by the students.
“It is essential for students to receive a well-rounded education that prepares them to enter the workforce. We’re pleased to support this valuable program located here in the Wabash Valley,” said Lori Danielson, executive vice president of Clabber Girl.
