TERRE HAUTE — Vigo County Sheriff Greg Ewing presented the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office Award to Indiana State Police Sgt. Kris Fitzgerald in “recognition for his efforts and assistance to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office” in the November 2012 homicide investigation of Allyson Lewis. Fitzgerald was credited with spending nearly 140 criminal investigation hours processing and evaluating hundreds of items for potential evidentiary value, which included multiple locations and vehicles, ultimately leading to the arrest of a suspect.

Fitzgerald is a 12-year veteran of the ISP and has served as a crime scene investigator for three years. Fitzgerald is assigned to the Putnamville Post. He and his family reside in rural Vigo County.
