Spill the Beans with a Tax Preparer
The free program Spill the Beans with a Tax Preparer is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Providence Place All Place at 219 N. Providence Place in West Terre Haute.
Scheduled speakers include Andy Stadler, Stadler and Company Tax Service; Terry Daniels, Hoosier Heartland Financial Services; John Fitzpatrick, Fitzpatrick Funeral Home; and Marjorie Hopkins, author of “Dying to Meet Him.”
A complimentary meal of beans and cornbread will be provided courtesy of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Stadler plans grand opening celebration
Stadler and Company Tax Service is planning a grand opening open house event Thursday at its new location, 2955 Canal Road.
Special guests will be Rep. Larry Bucshon, Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett and Ken Brengle of the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce.
Celebration is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with the open house, a ribbon cutting, speeches, a lunch of hamburgers, hotdogs and Pepsi and live television broadcasts.
Free AARP tax assistance available
Free tax assistance is again available at the Marshall Public Library for taxpayers with middle and low income, with special attention to those ages 60 and older.
Assistance is by appointment only at the library. The service will be available during select hours Feb. 4 through April 15.
Persons should bring last year’s income tax forms, a photo ID and all supporting documentation. The volunteers will not complete business or farm returns.
A limited supply of tax forms is available free at the library. Most forms can be downloaded from the IRS website, which may be done at the library for a small printing fee.

Quick Books workshop scheduled
Purdue Extension will host a Quick Books workshop in February geared toward farm families.
The workshop will take participants through the basics of setting up a company, paying bills, writing checks, paying payroll and payroll taxes and reconciling bank statements. The program will feature Denise Schroeder, Purdue Extension — White County, a farm wife herself with experience with Quick Books.
The two part Quick Books workshop will be from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Feb. 4 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb 27 at Ivy Tech — Center for Workforce Development at 1700 E. Industrial Drive in Terre Haute.
The cost is $50 per person (with a $10 late fee after Jan. 28). Register by Jan. 28 to avoid the late fee. To register, contact Jenna
