---- — Kym Pfrank, Union Hospital senior vice president and chief information officer, has been appointed to the position of senior vice president and chief operating officer.

Pfrank has enjoyed a 31-year career at Union Hospital, starting as director of data processing. He also spent four years as a computer operator in the U.S. Air Force in California. After returning to Illinois, Pfrank completed an associate’s degree in computer science from Danville Area Community College, a bachelor’s in management from Sangamon State University (University of Illinois), and an MBA from Indiana State University. He was previously employed by Lakeview Medical Center, now known as Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, where he served as director of data processing.

“I appreciate the opportunity to expand my career at Union Hospital and, hopefully, contribute to the continued growth of the organization,” said Pfrank, regarding his new position and additional responsibilities. Pfrank is a native of Danville, Ill

Financial Group announces that Neal Mottesheard has joined the Bison Financial Group as a marketing associate.

Mottesheard joins the firm after 10 years with Dorsett Automotive, where he most recently served as parts and service director. He has his bachelor’s degree in social science education from Indiana State University. Mottesheard is a Terre Haute native and lives in Terre Haute with his wife and daughter.

Bison Financial Group, located at 674 Ohio St., Terre Haute, also has offices in Lafayette and Valparaiso.

Sameer Bavashi, M.D., UAP clinic orthopaedic surgeon, has been selected as Union Sports Medicine’s medical director. Dr. Bavashi will provide medical oversight for the Union Sports Medicine program.

Dr. Bavishi earned his medical degree and completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery from Southern Illinois University. He completed his fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Center for Athletic Medicine. He is board certified in orthopaedic surgery. His clinical interests include sports medicine, shoulder, elbow and knee surgery, and hip arthroscopy.

Union Center for Sports Medicine provides comprehensive injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation for student athletes throughout the Wabash Valley, and is the official sports medicine provider for North Vigo, South Vigo, West Vigo, Marshall, Riverton Parke, Rockville and South Vermillion high schools, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and the Terre Haute Rex baseball team.

Rachel Leslie, director of advancement operations, has been promoted to the associate vice president for advancement at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. As the associate vice president for advancement, Leslie oversees and supports alumni relations, government relations, annual giving, grants development, donor stewardship, research, event planning, data management and the development of a strategic, comprehensive, annual advancement plan.

“Rachel demonstrates her expertise as a thoughtful communicator and creative leader day-in and day-out,” said Dottie King, president of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. “The Woods is fortunate to have a professional of her caliber building relationships with businesses and corporations and increasing philanthropic support.”

Leslie will also serve as the principal liaison for the college on all levels of government: federal, state and local. This includes monitoring legislation related to higher education, working with legislators and their staffs to increase awareness of the college’s educational programs and initiatives.

Before joining The Woods, Leslie served as executive vice president at Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce, where she was involved in strategic planning, fundraising, new revenue programs, member services, marketing, event planning and staff management.

As a strong advocate for the community, she is active in many organizations including Rotary International, Terre Haute Young Leaders, United Way of the Wabash Valley and Vigo County Education Foundation. Leslie earned her bachelor’s degree in speech communication, public relations and journalism from Indiana State University.

Heather Scott has been promoted to the assistant director of advancement services at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. In this role, Scott will perform oversight and management of key areas in advancement services, including database management, prospect management, research and gift processing.

“This is an important role for the institution in advancing our educational mission,” said Karen Dyer, vice president for advancement. “Heather’s extensive expertise in many aspects of advancement will help The Woods engage our supporters and continue our strong culture of philanthropy.”

Scott is also responsible for making business decisions that impact all areas of advancement. She will draw upon her analytical skills to scrutinize data and maintain industry standards for philanthropic gifts.

Scott has served the college since 2000 in several capacities, including database manager.
