TERRE HAUTE — Brian Kooistra, LEED AP, has been promoted to vice president of operations for Garmong Construction Services, and is responsible for field operations, the estimating group and project management. Kooistra is based in the Terre Haute office.

Dan Zuerner has been promoted to vice president of business development for Garmong Construction Services, continuing his focus on developing new and continued work opportunities oriented toward growing Garmong’s footprint geographically. Zuerner is based in the Terre Haute office.

Cathy Contri has rejoined Garmong Construction Services, accepting the newly created position as office manager. Contri assumes responsibility for support services deliverables and personnel, as well as building and grounds improvements and maintenance. Contri is based in the Terre Haute office.

Having worked at Garmong Construction Services as a summer intern while attending Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Lance Gassert, P.E., has returned to join Garmong’s Project Management Group and is based in the Terre Haute office.

Shawn White has been serving Garmong Construction Services as a part-time intern on various job sites in the field, and has most recently carried his internship experience forward to the estimating department in the Terre Haute office. White is a sophomore studying construction management at Indiana State University.

Tobin Voorhies has joined Garmong as a part-time intern to support the business development and marketing group. Voorhies is a junior studying marketing at Indiana State University.

Jason B. Lester is Sycamore Insurance Associates’ new vice president of sales. He has 13 years of risk management experience in the commercial property, casualty and employee benefit fields. His primary focus is working directly with business owners to develop appropriate risk management strategies, with a focus on the health care, energy, equipment/auto dealer and manufacturing industries.

Lester has extensive experience in both property and casualty and group benefit plans and has been directly involved in managing multi-state employers with 1,000-plus employees. At Sycamore he utilizes this experience to develop risk management strategies that will help his clients achieve maximum yield with minimum risk, assure the safety of their assets and protect them from catastrophe by careful negotiation on their behalf.

He is a First Financial President’s Award winner as well as a Chairman Council Award recipient from Federated Mutual Insurance. He is a member of the State and National Associations of Health Underwriters. He holds life and health as well as property and casualty licenses in Indiana, Illinois and Ohio and is a designated Certified Insurance Counselor.

A Mooresville native, Lester received his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. He was previously employed with insurance firms in Terre Haute and Indianapolis.

Sycamore Insurance Associates is an independent agency offering a full line of insurance products, including commercial and personal lines.

Tammy Shaw has joined the Terre Haute office of Bison Financial Group as the Senior Client Service Associate. Bison Financial Group is an independent practice of St. Louis-based Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network (FiNet).

Shaw has 25 years of industry experience, and joins Bison Financial Group from Morgan Stanley Wealth Management where she was a Senior Registered Associate. Shaw is Series 7 and 63 licensed.

Shaw is a Terre Haute native.

Bison Financial Group has been serving Indiana investors for 13 years and has nine financial advisors on staff with offices in Lafayette, Terre Haute, and Valparaiso.

Union Associated Physicians Clinic has announced that Dr. Matthew Jones has joined the UAP Clinic health care team as the newest member of the Orthopaedics Department.

 Dr. Jones earned his medical degree from Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. He completed his internship and residency training at William-Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich., and University of Arizona, University Medical Center in Tucson, Ariz. He completed fellowship training in sports medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is Board Eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery. His clinical interests include general orthopeadics and fracture care, sports medicine, minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, and advanced shoulder surgery.

“I’m so privileged to be doing something I’m very passionate about. I am excited to join a champion team at UAP here in Terre Haute. From my first meeting, I was struck by their commitment to excellence. I have benefited from excellent training and look forward to bringing that expertise to Terre Haute. I appreciate the opportunity to serve this area in orthopaedics and sports medicine,” said Jones.

Dr. Jones grew up in South Carolina. He attended high school, college and medical school in the Midwest. Training in orthopedic surgery took him to different parts of the country, including Arizona and Los Angeles.

Jones is excited about transitioning back to the Midwest to be closer to his family in Ohio. Dr. Jones enjoys physical fitness including lifting, football, basketball and golf. He recently started mountain biking. He is a car enthusiast and has done some amateur racing. He also enjoys snow skiing and worked as a ski instructor through his college years. He said if it’s an outdoor sport, he’s most likely interested and if it’s indoors and in high-definition, he’s most likely interested. He loves to travel and says he is slowly becoming a better cook.
