Charles Schwab opens independent branch in TH

TERRE HAUTE — Charles Schwab, a provider of full-service brokerage services, has opened a new independent branch in Terre Haute. The branch opened its doors on Oct. 19, at 4830 S. U.S. 41. The branch will offer investors local access to a full suite of investing and personal finance guidance, tools and products.

The new Terre Haute location is one of the first-of-its-kind Schwab franchise branches, part of a larger franchising initiative the firm announced in early 2011. Schwab’s decision to begin opening franchise branches, in addition to its more than 300 existing company-managed branches, is grounded in a commitment to make financial advice and guidance more accessible in local communities across the country. Schwab’s company-managed and independent branches will deliver the same suite of brokerage products and services, pricing, and overall client service and experience.

The Terre Haute branch is led by David McKimmy, an experienced investment and financial services professional. Prior to managing Schwab’s Terre Haute branch, McKimmy was the founder and president of McKimmy Investment Services Inc., where he provided investment advice to individuals and small companies. Before founding McKimmy Investment Services Inc., McKimmy was a registered representative at Edward Jones.

McKimmy expects to conduct a variety of educational investing workshops at the Terre Haute branch, which are free and open to the public. Initial investing workshops at the branch include:

• Straight Talk with Liz Ann Sonders — 6 p.m. Nov. 27 at

• Make the Most Out of —  6 p.m. Dec. 4

• Market Snapshot with Liz Ann Sonders – 6 p.m. Dec. 11

Schwab’s Terre Haute branch will serve Terre Haute and surrounding towns including Annapolis, Brazil, Bridgeton, Carbon, Carlisle, Center Point, Clay City, Clinton, Dennison, Fairbanks Farmersburg, Hillsdale, Hutsonville, Lewis, Marshal, Martinsville, Merom, Palestine, Paris, Profiles, Robinson, Rockville, Rosedale, Shelburn, Sullivan, West Terre Haute, West Union and West York.
