TERRE HAUTE — Rod Henry is the new president/chief executive officer for the Temple, Texas, Chamber of Commerce.

Henry, 59, recently posted his position on Facebook.

“It is hard to say goodbye to so many I had come into contact with over the past 23 years. Southern hospitality is well and alive in Temple, Texas,” Henry wrote. “I am hopeful our paths will cross again.”

Henry served as president of the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce from 1990 to July 2011.

Melissa Thomas has joined the Union Associated Physicians Clinic health care team as a family nurse practitioner in its Urology Department.

Thomas attended Indiana Wesleyan University and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing. She is certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She has had extensive experience working with patients during her nursing career, at the hospital level, in an office setting and as part of the Indiana State University School of Nursing adjunct faculty. She was part of the rapid response team at the hospital and took care of critically ill, unstable patients. She also has experience in tracking quality data for improvement initiatives. She recently decided to advance her career and become a family nurse practitioner specializing in urology.

Rockville Correctional Facility Superintendent Julie Stout announced the promotion of Lt. Jamin Medina, effective July 18.

Medina, who served with honor as a United States Marine from 2003 to 2007, began his career as a correctional officer with the Rockville Correctional Facility in September of 2008 and was promoted to the rank of correctional sergeant in 2010. Since beginning his career with the Department of Correction, Medina has shown a willingness to go the extra mile on a daily basis.

He is a past member of the RCF Emergency Squad and routinely contributes to departmental process improvements including fellow staff development and training, serving as the field-training officer manager and personal protection instructor trainer. Medina also is a 2012 graduate of the Indiana Department of Correction Leadership Academy.

The Rockville Correctional Facility is an American Correctional Association accredited medium-security adult female facility located on approximately 52 acres, one mile northwest of Rockville.
