The Health Care Excel board of directors has named Mary Kapur the company’s chief executive officer.

Kapur has been with the company since 1998, serving in several executive roles, including chief operating officer since 2007.

Carol Ireson, chair of the board of directors, “Kapur understands the challenges and needs of Health Care Excel customers and she has earned the respect of the company’s management and staff.”

Kapur, a resident of Westfield, has a bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University and a master’s degree from Indiana University. Her employment background includes business, state and local government, and teaching. Prior to joining Health Care Excel, Kapur was a policy advisor to former Indianapolis Mayor Stephen Goldsmith.

Health Care Excel, formed as an Indiana nonprofit corporation in the mid-1970s, holds federal Medicare quality improvement contracts in Indiana and Kentucky, and Medicaid and other state contracts in several states, including Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Arizona, Iowa, Missouri and Utah.
