Ivy Tech Community College – Wabash Valley Region has reached an agreement with Workforce Network Incorporated to become the WorkOne Service Provider for Economic Growth Region 7. The College will be responsible for the administration and delivery of all Work One services effective Aug. 1. The Economic Growth Region 7 service area includes Clay, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo Counties.
Dr. Jeff Pittman, chancellor of the Wabash Valley Region, states, “We are all very excited and proud to become the service provider of this area. We believe the College’s mission of workforce development aligns very well with the purpose and scope of WorkOne. As the new service provider, we will be able to provide even greater opportunities for the citizens of West Central Indiana to achieve higher levels of training and education relevant to the area’s workforce. We are pleased to partner with Workforce Network and the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) in this critical role.”
Larry Tempel, president of Workforce Network, Inc., comments, “We look forward to working in partnership with Ivy Tech Community College in their new role as service provider. The training and workforce development expertise the college brings to the WorkOne system will provide businesses and Hoosier workers throughout western Indiana with the resources necessary to compete in today’s global economy.”
Ivy Tech embraces DWD’s and Workforce Network’s focus on integration within the WorkOne Centers, and believes this collaboration of resources will be the key to success to workforce development in the Region. Integration focuses on improved customer services, and brings the delivery of several different services into a single customer flow. Integration maximizes efficiency by eliminating duplication of services, streamlining processes, coordinating delivery of services, and creating additional services.
Because of the natural alignment of services between Ivy Tech and WorkOne, representatives of the College believe they can further streamline services at WorkOne Offices by integrating specific Ivy Tech practices and procedures up through the admission of customers to college programs.
Representatives of the college believe that this new and important partnership will create enormous benefits to WorkOne customers in the immediate future, as well as area employers who desperately need a well-educated work force.
