The Indiana State Excise Police recently honored some of their own at the annual Officer of the Year banquet in Indianapolis. The awards were as follows:
District No. 3 Officer of the Year: Senior Officer Shawn Catterson, Crawfordsville
District No. 5 Educator of the Year: Officer Chris Smith, Terre Haute
Trainer of the Year: Sgt. Bill Turner, Farmersburg
Enterprising Excellence: Cpl. Jerrod Baugh, Greencastle
Indiana State Excise Police Officer of the Year: Jason Szemes
The Indiana State Excise Police is the law enforcement division of the Indiana Alcohol & Tobacco Commission.

Bruce Young, of Paris, Ill., has successfully completed the Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist Professional Designation Program. Individuals who complete the program, pass a final exam and sign a code of ethics and disclosure form can earn the right to use the CRPS mark.
Young is employed at Citizens National Bank. Additionally, he is licensed by the National Association of Securities Dealers and serves on the board of directors for the ABC Foundation. He is also a member of the Financial Planning Association.
Graduates of the program must complete a specialized independent study course that provides a foundation for giving retirement planning advice to corporations and small businesses. The course covers key issues involved in all phases of establishing retirement plans within businesses.
