NEW: Vigo Schools advise parents to plan for severe weather

TERRE HAUTE — The Vigo County School Corp. is advising parents to have plans for their students for Thursday and Friday in the event that potential severe weather creates a scenario where school may be released early for delayed during the next two days.

Thursday's forecast calls for snow likely in the afternoon. Snow accumulation around 1 inch. Highs in the upper 20s. East winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 70 percent. Lowest wind chill readings 8 below to 2 above zero until midday.

Thursday night the forecast will be not as cold. Freezing rain and sleet with snow likely then freezing rain with snow and sleet likely after Midnight. Snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 2 inches. Total snow accumulation 2 to 3 inches. Nearly steady temperatures in the mid 20s. East winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation 80 percent.

On Friday morning freezing rain sleet and rain are likely. Ice accumulation of less than one quarter of an inch. Highs in the lower 30s.

Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
