Phones soon will ring off the hook from coast to coast as a California-based company will announce today their intent to hire 500 or more people at a new Terre Haute facility.
A Terre Haute economic development official said today the company will hire 500 or more people at its new facility.
Call center operator Alorica will make their official announcement this morning, but applications were being accepted on their Web site Wednesday and through online employment services. Job openings will include agents, trainers and support technicians.
“Clients include top-tier, brand name companies in electronics, wireless services and other consumer product industries,” according to the Alorica corporate Web site.
The new facility will be located at 1800 Fort Harrison Road, Plaza North Shopping Center. Economic development officials along with Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels will be making the announcement at 10 a.m.
Alorica was founded in 1998 by software inventor Andy Lee, whose Helix product improved services in clients by increasing speed of data acquisition, according to a 2007 report in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin of Ontario, Calif.
Alorica spun off Helix and is now focused on call centers. The group employs 7,500 workers at centers in California, Florida, Kansas, Oklahoma, South Dakota and the Philippines.
