TERRE HAUTE —
A Terre Haute man has been arrested and charged with felony murder and altering the scene of a death in the homicide of his wife, Kayla Herchelroath Archer.
Lorenzo Archer Jr., 49, appeared via video in Vigo Superior Court 5 this morning where Senior Judge Barbara Brugnaux read the charges alleging that Archer killed his wife on May 31, and that some time before June 6, he altered the scene of her death by removing her body from their home.
The couple lived in the 300 block of Kent Avenue in a rental house owned by Lighthouse Mission.
Kayla Archer’s nude body was discovered wrapped in a tarp, lying in a ditch in Greene County, Ohio. Her remains were identified June 10 when her fingerprints were run through the Automated Fingerprint Information System.
Lorenzo Archer was arrested June 13 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on a warrant issued in the homicide investigation. He is a native of Harrisburg, Pa.
A press conference is set for later today at Terre Haute Police Department where more information will be released on the investigation.
