1. JUSTICE DEPARTMENT MULLS CASE AGAINST ZIMMERMAN

Federal civil rights charges could be brought against the ex-neighborhood watch man after his acquittal in the shooting of Trayvon Martin.

2. THOUSANDS PROTEST VERDICT

Demonstrators clashed with police in Los Angeles, while others carried pictures of Martin or wore hoodies as he was wearing when the unarmed black teenager died.

3. JOURNALIST SAYS SNOWDEN HAS NSA ‘BLUEPRINTS’

The Guardian’s Glenn Greenwald says the NSA leaker doesn’t want the documents on how the agency operates to be made public yet.

4. ARMY CHIEF DEFENDS MORSI OUSTER

Gen. Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi says the people wanted the Islamist leader removed as a deputy U.S. secretary of state headed to Egypt to meet with interim leaders.

5. REID WANTS TO CHANGE NOMINATION RULES

Congress is talking today about having a simple majority approve presidential nominees, rather than a 60-vote threshold that often stalls nominations.

6. AUTOPSY PLANNED TODAY FOR ‘GLEE’ ACTOR

‘Gleeks’ mourned 31-year-old Cory Monteith, found dead in a Vancouver hotel room this weekend, at a fan convention by singing his popular songs from the hit TV series.  

7. EX-ISLAMIC CHIEF SENTENCED FOR BANGLADESH WAR CRIMES

Ghulam Azam, 91, was sentenced to 90 years in jail for crimes during the country’s 1971 independence war.

8. AIRLINE TO SUE TV STATION AFTER SF CRASH

Asiana says San Francisco’s KTVU-TV damaged its reputation by publishing false and offensive names for four pilots on the plane that crashed.

9. THAI UNIVERSITY APOLOGIZES FOR HITLER BANNER

Chulalongkorn University says the banner that showcased Hitler along with superheroes was painted by ignorant students who didn’t realize the image would offend anyone.

10. A DARK DAY FOR TRACK

Star sprinters Asafa Powell, Tyson Gay and Sherone Simpson all fail drug tests.
