Northview students preparing for Christmas Spectacular

News Release

BRAZIL, Ind. — Celebrate the season with the students of the Northview Fine Arts Department as it presents the 24th Annual Northview Christmas Spectacular at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 and 15 and at 2 p.m. Dec. 16 in the high school’s auditorium.

Heartwarming carols, exciting band arrangements and loads of Christmas memories are just the beginning of an evening certain to capture the holiday spirit. This popular extravaganza began as a one-night production in 1989 and has grown to a three-night holiday variety show.

The Northview choirs will perform a few holiday favorites including “Baby It’s Cold Outside” and “Walking in a Winter Wonderland.” The Symphonic Choir will take audiences back to the 1940s with “Jing-a-Ling, Jing-a-Ling,” originally performed by the Andrews Sisters. The Knight Singers will sing a jazzy a cappella version of “Carol of the Bells,” and the Knight Shades will present their version of “Zat You Santa Claus” made famous by Louis Armstrong.

Dancers will take the stage throughout the evening bringing to life their versions of the iconic “Rudolph the Reindeer,” “Radio City Santa” and “Toy Soldier” routines made famous on Broadway. Musical selections from the band will include Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride,” Mariah Carey’s “All I want For Christmas is You” and the stunning carol “This Christmastide.” The award-winning Northview Percussion Ensemble will perform a unique arrangement of “Greensleeves.”

The band and choir will be performing a special finale, “Christmas Day,” originally recorded by Michael W. Smith and Mandisa followed by a full cast rendition of Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas.”

All seats cost $6 and must be reserved. Tickets go on sale today and will be on sale from 8 a.m. to noon weekdays in the Music Office at the high school.
