Go gaga at Fort Harrison State Park

Lady or gentleman, boy or girl, your chance to go gaga, for free, arrives in less than a month.

Gaga Ball, one of the latest outdoor game crazes, is one of more than 50 outdoor activities participants can do — free — at the fifth annual Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience at Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 21 and 22.

The American Camp Association ( will feature the Gaga Ball at its booth. The portable pits necessary for the game will be provided by Coach Cliff’s Gaga Ball Pits.

As in previous years, there also will be loads of more traditional activities for everyone of almost all ages including: archery and target shooting, mountain biking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and horseback riding. All equipment will be provided.

About 25,500 people attended last year. Room for more awaits in the heavily wooded, spacious, historic 1,700 acres of the former army base.

Made possible by Central Indiana Ford Dealers, the Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience is presented by the Department of Natural Resources and the Indiana Natural Resources Foundation. The goal is to introduce people to outdoor activities they may have never tried.

Online advance registration is requested. To register or get more information, or to share your outdoor passion and volunteer, visit Watch for more updates and details. For questions about volunteering, contact Cheryl Hampton at 317-233-1002 or
