Indianapolis Symphonic Band to perform free outdoor concert

---- — The Indianapolis Symphonic Band will perform its third outdoor concert at Fort Harrison State Park from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m. on Saturday at the park sledding hill. The 45-minute concert will feature popular music from noted composers.

The Indianapolis Symphonic Band is made up of professional and amateur musicians from across central Indiana. It is an organization of wind instruments whose concerts highlight a wide selection of music, from classical to pop. The ISB has been performing in the Indianapolis area for more than 50 years.

Fort Harrison State Park was once Fort Harrison Military Reservation, and has had a long history of outdoor concerts from military wind bands. The ISB has performed at Fort Harrison State Park for more than three years and continues a tradition of wind band performances at Fort Harrison that dates back to 1912.

Concert attendees are advised to wear appropriate clothing for the weather. They are also encouraged to bring blankets or chairs, bug spray and snacks. This concert is pet- and stroller-friendly.

There is no cost to attend the program, but the normal IDNR gate fee of $5 per in-state or $7 per out-of-state vehicle applies. For more information, contact the visitor’s center at 317-591-0122.
