Register now for Mill Creek Park’s ‘Howl at the Moon’

It’s time to sign up for Mill Creek’s annual “Howl at the Moon” event, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 19. The event includes an extreme night 10K trail run and a one-mile spook walk for the timid.

The Mayhem Dirt Crew Zombies are back. Run on the Dark Side (ATV trails) at the park. The run is a real trail race on muddy, root-bound and hilly trails. Run in the dark with ghouls, goblins and zombies. Packet pickup will be at the ATV trailhead from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. CDT. The one-mile spook walk will start at 6:30 p.m., and the 10K run begins at 7.

For those who are truly crazy and choose to run in Halloween costumes, there will be awards for the best male and female costumes. Protective eyewear is strongly encouraged. A flashlight or headlamp is required (bring your own); there will be no exceptions.

An awards ceremony will take place at the finish line, and refreshments and entertainment will be available. Proceeds from the event go to help fund future Clark County Park District Trails activities.

The fee for the one-mile Spook Walk/Run is $5. The 10k Howl is $20 now through Sept. 20, $25 Sept. 21 through Oct. 18 and $30 on race day.  Optional T-shirts are $18, $21 for XXL or larger. They will be ordered on Sept. 23; no additional orders will be made after this date.

Make checks payable to Clark County Park District and send with form to  20482 E. Park Entrance Road, Marshall, IL 62441.
