‘Heroes from the Heartland’ to celebrate vets Nov. 1-11

Hoosiers will get to honor Indiana’s veterans and active military personnel this fall during the “Heroes from the Heartland” exhibition, Nov. 1 through Veterans Day at the Indiana State Museum. The exhibit will feature Hoosiers who have served or are currently serving in any branch of the military.

These stories will be featured on a photo mural at the museum as well as on the Web at theindychannel.

com. Additional postings will be viewable on the museum’s Facebook page.

In addition to the exhibition, Veterans Day activities will take place at the museum from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 10, including a performance by the Indianapolis Municipal Band, Indy’s oldest all-volunteer community band; ration and wartime kitchen demonstrations; and presentations by Civil War re-enactors and World War II veterans. A “Thank You Indiana” banner provided by the Indiana National Guard also will be on display.

The exhibition and activities are included in regular museum admission. The museum is at 650 W. Washington St. in White River State Park, Indianapolis. For more information call 317-232-1637.
