Bestselling author of ‘Why Me’ at library Oct. 3

Sarah Burleton had far from the ideal upbringing. In fact, she experienced abuse at the hands of her very emotionally disturbed mother throughout her childhood.

Now she has written a book that chronicles this abuse, and has made it her life’s goal to get her story out to the world and to become an ambassador to children who are having the same experience. Her message of strength over adversity will help counselors, teachers and other professionals identify signs of abuse and learn ways to establish trust with an abused child.

“Why Me,” Burleton’s first book, spent 26 weeks on the New York Times Bestsellers List.

The print version is endorsed by David Pelzer, author of “A Child Called It.”

Burleton will appear at Marshall (Ill.) Public Library at 6:30 p.m. today, in the Dale McConchie Meeting Room. Books will be available for sale by the author following the program.

The 5th Judicial Circuit Family Violence Coordinating Council and Friends of Marshall Public Library are co-sponsoring the event.

Call 217-826-2535 or email for more information or to register for the free program.
