A program called “Tea and Comfort: A Civil War Era Gathering for Women” is scheduled at the Marshall (Ill.) Public Library at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 12.
The Clark County Antique Study Club is providing light refreshments and a historical program in honor of local men who fought in the Civil War and women who struggled at home.
Participants will learn about the history of tea and how it was served, hear about refreshments women offered their guests and listen to first-hand accounts of the struggles endured by wives and widows.
Those attending are asked to bring a cup and saucer for their tea. Era dress is optional but encouraged. This program is for adults only.
Registration is required as space is limited. Those planning to attend should call the library at 217-826-2535 or email email@example.com by Monday.
The library is handicapped-accessible; 48 hours’ notice is requested for special arrangements.
The library can be reached at 217-826-2535 for more information.
