A color explosion is heading to the Wabash Valley, and it’s all for a good cause.
On Sept. 21 the inaugural Color Run on the Rise, benefiting the United Way of the Wabash Valley, will take place at Vermillion Rise Mega Park, located just south of Newport. Participants will be asked to wear their whitest whites, lace up their shoelaces and prepare to participate in a 5K.
The event is open to all ages and athletic abilities. Even if you aren’t a seasoned runner, it doesn’t matter. This untimed 5K is more about having fun than running the perfect mile.
So whether you plan to run, walk, skip or jump through the clouds of color, make sure you register today.
Registration the day of the Color Run on the Rise will begin at 8 a.m., with the 5K starting at 9:45. Cost to participate is $20 in advance, $25 the day of the event, and $10 for children and students. Registration includes an event T-shirt and a goodie bag. All proceeds will benefit the United Way of the Wabash Valley.
Participants wanting to guarantee they get a T-shirt must register by Sept. 6. To register in advance, visit www.vermillionrise.com, print a registration form and mail the form and payment to Vermillion Rise Mega Park, c/o Color Run on the Rise, 259 Vine St., Clinton, IN 47842; it can be faxed to 765-832-3871.
Event sponsors include Duke Energy, Burns & McDonnell, White Construction, Old National Bank, Union Hospital-Clinton, Farmers National, Vermillion Rise Mega Park and State Farm-Robin Summerville, the Tribune-Star and 100.7 Mix-FM.
