Seattle singer-songwriter at Mogger’s

TERRE HAUTE — On her first tour of the Midwest, Seattle singer-songwriter Jill Cohn brings her whimsical love songs to Mogger’s Restaurant on Oct. 12.

The show runs from 7 to 9 p.m. at Mogger’s, located at 908 Poplar St. in Terre Haute. Admission is free, and a donation for the music of $5 to $7 is suggested.

Cohn has returned to the road with her latest release, “Beautiful I Love You,” which is a collection of lush, ambient songs that take a whimsical and somewhat bittersweet look inside long- distance love affairs, relocation and a traveling girl’s solo adventures in a man’s world.

The album reached the top 10 indie releases in a Los Angeles newspaper, and was produced by Martin Feveyear who also produced Brandie Carlile. Cohn is best known for diverse styling and heart-string tugging ballads, intermingled with the humorous/quirky brighter side of things.

Her recent recordings have gained new notoriety with her songs placed in popular TV shows, “Smallville” and the MTV/UK hit “SKINS.” She was a top-five finalist in the Lilith Fair Talent Search and has opened for many well-known artists, including Jewel and Dave Matthews.

On this national tour, Cohn will be joined by Bay area guitarist Dave Sampson, who is also the principal guitarist on the “Beautiful I Love You” CD.
