Media artworks at river to ‘translate’ surface

News Release

TERRE HAUTE — Sala Wong and Peter Williams will present premieres of two new media intervention artworks from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday, along the Wabash River at Fairbanks Park in Terre Haute.

At 8 p.m., Williams’ “Grasping Elapsing,” a multichannel digital artwork, will use the horizontal and vertical forms of the river’s edge and translate the water’s surface along a spectrum of world events. The project is supported in part by the Indiana Arts Commission.

At 9 p.m., Wong’s “Indistinct” will combine poetic text-images and light. This projected media artwork will transform the act of reading that begins and ends with the flow of the river.

The premieres are in cooperation with 2013 Year of the River and Art Spaces Inc., and the artists will be present for the show. The event is free and open to the public.
