Learn the art of storytelling Sept. 19 at library dinnertime Brown Bag

News Release

---- — Community members are invited to bring their dinners and learn the art of storytelling from several Wabash Valley veteran storytellers at the Vigo County Public Library’s “Brown Bag” series on Sept. 19.

The event will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the lower level of the library.

Ten area storytellers will share their tips and techniques on the art of storytelling. They will engage participants by interactive instruction. The storytellers will demonstrate how to captivate and control an audience, develop a character voice and use props, and will highlight many other storytelling techniques.

The program will be led by the VCPL’s Sally Weatherston and her husband, Doug, who toured the southwestern U.S. for many years as the Village Players. The duo performed and entertained children of all ages in homes, schools, churches and museums. Their hands-on experiences will give attendees the tools to begin crafting public performances, in an evening of stories and laughter.

For more information, or to register, call the VCPL Community Connections Department at 812-232-1116. The library offers free “Brown Bag” programs once a month from January to October.
