Author Mike Lunsford to sign ‘A Windy Hill Almanac’ at Rockville Library

Author Mike Lunsford will sign his latest book, “A Windy Hill Almanac,” at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 12 in the Rockville Public Library.

Lunsford, 57, is a teacher and writer from rural Parke County. His human interest column, “The Off Season,” is regularly published in the Terre Haute Tribune-Star, and he was recently named the Wabash Valley’s top columnist in the annual Reader’s Choice contest for the second time. “A Windy Hill Almanac” is his fourth collection of stories; he is currently at work on a childhood memoir.

Writer and editor Jim McGarrah, winner of the Eric Hoffer Award for Non-Fiction, says of Lunsford’s writing, “There is something greater than the sum of its parts in Lunsford’s elegant and natural prose that inspires the reader to feel the world, as well as think about it.”

Allen Young, author of the award-winning “Small Creatures and Ordinary Places,” says of Lunsford’s book, “His latest writings are an inspiration for us all to look, listen and feel the inherent beauty of the natural world.”

Tribune-Star feature writer Mark Bennett says, “Beech trees, streams and cornstalks blend into the background of our busy lives. Lunsford gives them starring roles in his exquisite writing, using them as vehicles to tell stories, rekindle our memories and awaken our senses.”

“A Windy Hill Almanac” is available for $15 from Shade Tree Press. Lunsford can be contacted by email at Questions about the program can be directed to library director Cindy Hein at 765-569-5544.
