Author Marjorie E. Hopkins, a resident of Brazil, will sign copies of her book, “Dying to Meet Him,” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Open Door Christian Book Store at 3125 S. Third Place.
“Are you excited about life? That’s great, but did you know that Scripture actually warns us to think about death? In the Bible we’re told that ‘(D)eath is the destiny of every man; the living should take this to heart’ (Ecclesiastes 7:3, NIV),” Hopkins says. “Do you take death to heart? Do you have eternity as a mind-set? Life is terminal, yet it seems the one thing we don’t want to think or talk about is death — the only certain thing in life!”
As the wife of a funeral director, Hopkins got a much closer glimpse at death and, in consequence, life. Through this time, and while praying for years about her own fear of death, Hopkins overcame and was drawn to the conclusion that humans avoid thinking and planning for this one unavoidable event in life.
‘“Dying to Meet Him’ can help you have a more eternal and spiritual perspective on everyday life and help you be prepared for the inescapable, the certain, the inevitable by encouraging you to be dying to meet Him,” Hopkins says.
