Sewing Connection plans auction

News Release

TERRE HAUTE — The Wabash Valley Sewing Connection will have an auction on Monday in the Girl Scout Building in Fairbanks Park. It will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until all items are sold. Coffee will be available. Admission is free.

The auction will feature homemade items such as crafts, clothing, baked goods, accessories, etc. The auction is conducted once a year, and the members make and donate items to be sold.

The Sewing Connection has almost 60 members who meet on the third Monday of each month to share articles they have made such as quilts, jackets, doll clothes, aprons, afghans, sweaters, scarves, skirts and more. Many members make items to donate to organizations such as CODA, Mental Health Association, War Veterans, cancer caps, newborn baby blankets, booties, bonnets, etc. Their latest donation was bags to hang on walkers and wheelchairs.

At monthly meetings members have show-and-tell to share things they have made and welcome speakers and instructors. They also take two trips a year to a fabric store or other place of interest, have two carry-in luncheons, and share special dishes with recipes.

For membership information contact Sandy Byrd at 812-299-2693.
