TERRE HAUTE — The Terre Haute-based blues-rock band The Blue News has launched its first “crowdfunding” campaign for a new 10-track album, “In Your Dreams.”

The album project on Kickstarter.com is called “Join The Experience: In Your Dreams.” Crowdfunding is an online fundraising system, and Kickstarter.com is among popular crowdfunding websites. The group has received national notice through songs used in television shows, video games and mobile phone apps. On its most recent six-track EP “Wartime Songs,” the band worked together with multi-platinum producer Sylvia Massy (Tool, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Johnny Cash). The compilation continues to get radio airplay.

The songwriting duo of Brent Orndorff and Dustin Richardson also recently signed with Musik and Film Records, a Jacksonville, Fla.-based indie label established by Lynyrd Skynyrd’s original manager, Stephen Wrench.
